Metadata: Spatial information and questionnaire data from coral farms and restoration sites in Indonesia 2024/Informasi spasial dan data kuesioner dari peternakan karang dan lokasi restorasi di Indonesia 2024
Abstract:
This is the results from a 2-day workshop and interviews with staff from coral farms and restoration sites to gather evidence to inform policy recommendations for the establishment of an effective national network for propagated coral exchange in Indonesia. This work supports progress towards sustainable international trade and to contribute to coral reef conservation in the world’s epicentre of marine biodiversity. The project directly supports the conservation of coral reefs in Indonesia and assist in the meeting of CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of wild fauna and flora) trade permit conditions. Both UK industry and the UK’s CITES Scientific Authority (Joint Nature Conservation Committee) will benefit from strengthening the supply of farmed coral to conservation initiatives as evidence for a responsible and sustainable coral trade. Data include names and locations of interviews of coral farms and restoration projects in Indonesia in February 2024 with further information on operational activity with information such as do the coral farms have their own restoration site, what restoration site do they farmers give to, do they cover transport, the species given, how long they have been operational, in, the size of the coral, challenges of the business and recommendations to improve the collaboration between farmers and restoration sites. These data are available upon request. Ini adalah hasil dari lokakarya 2 hari dan wawancara dengan staf dari peternakan karang dan lokasi restorasi untuk mengumpulkan bukti untuk menginformasikan rekomendasi kebijakan untuk pembentukan jaringan nasional yang efektif untuk pertukaran karang yang disebarkan di Indonesia. Pekerjaan ini mendukung kemajuan menuju perdagangan internasional yang berkelanjutan dan untuk berkontribusi pada konservasi terumbu karang di pusat keanekaragaman hayati laut dunia. Proyek ini secara langsung mendukung konservasi terumbu karang di Indonesia dan membantu dalam pemenuhan ketentuan izin perdagangan CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of wild fauna and flora). Baik industri Inggris maupun Otoritas Ilmiah CITES Inggris (Komite Konservasi Alam Bersama) akan mendapat manfaat dari penguatan pasokan karang budidaya untuk inisiatif konservasi sebagai bukti perdagangan karang yang bertanggung jawab dan berkelanjutan. Data meliputi nama dan lokasi wawancara peternakan karang dan proyek restorasi di Indonesia pada Februari 2024 dengan informasi lebih lanjut tentang kegiatan operasional dengan informasi seperti apakah peternakan karang memiliki lokasi restorasi sendiri, lokasi restorasi apa yang diberikan oleh petani, apakah mereka mencakup transportasi, spesies yang diberikan, berapa lama mereka telah beroperasi, dalam, ukuran karang, tantangan bisnis dan rekomendasi untuk meningkatkan kolaborasi antara petani dan lokasi restorasi.
