Metadata: Nematode assemblages from lab-based disturbance experiments using samples from the Exe and Lynher estuaries, February to May 1996
Abstract:
Data consists of presense data of nematode worms, from both sand and mud habiatats, in the form of count data. Bulk sediment samples were collected from both the Exe estuary and the Lynher estuary between February and May 1996. This data is the result of labatory experiments on physical disurbance and details the counts of different nematode species of samples following disturbance and various lengths of recovery time. The Read Me file contains further information on the experiments conducted on each microcosm.
Data holder:
Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science, Lowestoft Laboratory (CEFAS)

| Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | dataset |
| Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 1996-02-01 |
| End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 1996-05-30 |
| Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | notPlanned |

| Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | Data are a result of a laboratory experiment, designed to investigate the effects of different frequencies of physical disturbances on meiofaunal communities. This dataset was the first of its kind, making use of simplified ecosystem models (microcosms). Prior to 1996, no microcosm experiments had been undertaken to examine the effects of different frequencies of physical disturbances on meiofaunal communities. To identify nematode species, Platt & Warwick (1983, 1988) and Warwick et al. (1998) identification keys were used. Samples were subjected to physical disturbance in the lab, and species counts were conducted after various recovery times. |
