| Other details | ||
| Internal code | Internally assigned metadata identifier | 11355 |
| Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | 2012, Subacoustech, Gwynt y Mor, Operational Underwater Noise |
| File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | 4c8cae76-3c72-4876-b9d4-ccdd832e9a35 |
| Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | MDE-TCE-SITENUMBER-SERIESNUMBER |
| Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | series |
| Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2025-10-24 |
| End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2025-10-24 |
| Spatial resolution unit | This describes the unit of spatial resolution which for distance must be metres. | urn:ogc:def:uom:EPSG::9001 |
| Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | notPlanned |
| Abstract | The abstract provides a clear and brief statement of the content of the resource. | Gwynt y Mor, Operational Underwater Noise - Operational underwater noise |
| Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | In order to estimate the likely noise levels from operational wind turbines, source levels and transmission losses produced by similar turbines in similar conditions around the UK will be looked at. These results will then be compared against predictions using the openly available RAMSGeo software package. These levels will then be assessed using a wide variety of noise metrics in order to assess the impacts that the noise from the operational wind turbines at Gwynt y Môr may have on the key species in the area.Measurement of underwater noise Sound may be expressed in many different ways depending on the particular type of noise, and the parameters of the noise that will allow it to be evaluated in terms of a biological effect. These are described in more details below. The fact that sound spreads out as it travels from the source needs to be included in any assessment of received levels. As the measurement point moves away from the source, a piling operation for instance, the pressure measured will decrease due to spreading. To standardise all source levels, regardless of where they are measured, they are referred back to a conceptual point 1 m away from the point of origin of the noise. Consequently, source levels should and will be presented with units of ‘dB re 1 µPa @ 1 m’. |
