Metadata: UK Atlas of Seabed Habitats: Combined Map v2025.1
Abstract:
The UK Atlas of Seabed Habitats (UKASH) Combined Map is the most comprehensive full coverage map of seabed habitats in the UK. It combines the Mosaic of Localised Maps with the UKSeaMap Predictive Map. Source maps vary in terms of spatial and thematic detail. Its main strength is that it lets us calculate the total area of broad-scale habitats within UK waters and/or regional seas, using the best-available data. This is particularly useful for assessments of the adequacy of the UK marine protected area network. For other purposes, it should be used with caution and understanding of its limitations caused by the varying quality of the source maps.

| Internal code | Internally assigned metadata identifier | 11430 |
| Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | UK Atlas of Seabed Habitats: Combined Map v2025.1 |
| File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | 80d6a217-152d-4b03-962e-f248b6e251e4 |
| Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | UKASH_CM2025_1 |
| Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | dataset |
| Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 1968-01-01 |
| End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2025-04-11 |
| Spatial resolution | This describes the spatial resolution of the dataset or the spatial limitations of the service. | inapplicable |
| Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | unknown |

The UKASH Combined Map is the combination of two other data products: UKASH Mosaic of Localised Maps v2025.1 a single, non-overlapping map product for the UK seabed, including the intertidal zone, but only where localised habitat maps exist.
