Metadata: 1996 Environmental Consultants (CTNC) Ltd Falmouth Bay and Estuaries A Nature Conservation Overview
Abstract:
The (FBEI) Falmouth Bay and Estuaries Initiative (set up in 1993) area covers an extensive section of the southern coast of Cornwall at the western end of the English Channel. The FBEI commissioned Environmental Consultants (CTNC) Ltd to produce a nature conservation overview of the area in 1995. The aims were to draw together all existing data on the habitats, flora and fauna; highlight key areas, features and species; identify particular nature conservation issues and problems; identify ideal management objectives; assist with the development of objectives and projects to safeguard the wildlife conservation interest of the area; and assist with the production of educational and interpretative material. The report describes the physical conditions, outlines and assesses the habitats, and describes and evaluates the flora and fauna present. Environmental Consultants (CTNC) Ltd is now known as Cornwall Environmental Consultants (CEC) Ltd.

| Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | The FBEI was set up in 1993, funded by a partnership between Cornwall County Council, Carrick District Council, English Nature, South West Water, The National Trust, and the Ports of Truro and Penryn. This report is a summary of the findings of a number of surveys, therefore much of the data is possibly more coarse than it would have been originally, being extracted from maps etc. No information about whether or not QC, protocols or standards were used. DASSH have carried out a QA to the best of their abilities given the source of the data. This data has been reviewed against the DASSH Quality Assessment Criteria (http://doi.org/10.17031/64ccec5c7ba72) and been categorised as low quality. |
