Metadata: 2021 Natural Resources Wales (NRW) Skomer zooplankton survey
Abstract:
Zooplankton abundance survey using a WP2 net with 200 micron mesh with a 0.159m2 opening. Net was dragged vertically from sea floor to the surface at one location (Skomer MCZ) at different times. Skomer Marine Conservation Zone (MCZ) is the only MCZ in Wales and sits within the Pembrokeshire Islands marine Special Area of Conservation (SAC). Natural Resources Wales has a duty to monitor these sites and plankton is not only a feature of the MCZ, but also a fundamental part in understanding the functioning of all the marine habitats that form features of the SAC. Skomer was a Marine Nature Reserve (Wildlife and Countryside Act) but since 2009 is now a Marine Conservation Zone which was designated under the Marine and Coastal Access Act.

| Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | 2021 Natural Resources Wales (NRW) Skomer zooplankton survey |
| File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | 9c993e4d5d70dd2bb8a9c98968fce82a |
| Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | DASSHDT00000475 |
| Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | dataset |
| Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2021-04-15 |
| End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2021-11-15 |
| Spatial resolution | This describes the spatial resolution of the dataset or the spatial limitations of the service. | inapplicable |
| Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | unknown |
