Metadata: 2019 Wageningen Marine Research, WWF-Netherlands and Eurofins AquaSense Dutch North Sea shipwreck dive survey, Ostrea edulis records
Abstract:
Marine Biodiversity Records manuscript submission by Joop Coolen of Ostrea edulis sightings during shipwrecks dive survey. The SCUBA divers performed a visual biodiversity inventory for a wide 45 range of species and collected specimens for later identification, as described in Schrieken et al. (2013). The European flat oyster Ostrea edulis once formed an extensive population in offshore Dutch waters, that has been overfished and was decimated around 1900. Since this time, these records are most northern findings of live O. edulis specimens in the Dutch North Sea, on 41 shipwrecks and their surrounding scour holes.

| Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | This data has come from a submission of a Marine Biodiversity Record manuscript, which is a subset of a scientific paper undergoing peer review for publication: Ostrea edulis at shipwrecks in the Dutch North Sea. Data quality processes are unknown. If any sensitive species or biotope records are present within this dataset, they will have been removed. If you wish to request access to sensitive species records, please contact the metadata contact. The UK Sensitive Species list has been agreed by UK statutory bodies and relevant experts. It can be viewed here https://docs.nbnatlas.org/sensitive-species-list/. Please note sensitive species lists can vary across the UK. This data has been reviewed against the DASSH Quality Assessment Criteria (http://doi.org/10.17031/64ccec5c7ba72) and been categorised as high-medium quality |
