Metadata: 1997 Joint Nature Conservation Committee (JNCC) UK distribution of non-native species records
Abstract:
The study reported here was undertaken to collate details and review information about introductions of marine fauna and flora to Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales). The focus of this review is on nature conservation and the work will be used to formulate policy on marine introductions in relation to nature conservation interests. The study evaluates non-native macro fauna and flora, which have been introduced from outside their natural range and have become established in the wild in British waters. This report evaluates their origin, date and method of introduction, the reasons for their success, rate of spread, current distribution, actual and potential effects on native ecosystems and nature conservation as well as commercial interests, and methods of control. Micro-organisms (less than 20 m) are not considered.

| Internal code | Internally assigned metadata identifier | 10594 |
| Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | 1997 Joint Nature Conservation Committee (JNCC) UK distribution of non-native species records |
| File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | b41c74b1af4111ae96cef95cc967f8fa |
| Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | DASSHDT00000161 |
| Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | dataset |
| Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 1937-01-01 |
| End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 1989-12-31 |
| Spatial resolution | This describes the spatial resolution of the dataset or the spatial limitations of the service. | inapplicable |
| Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | notPlanned |

| Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | Part of MSFD NNS baseline data collation project (Jan 2016). Subset of a dataset as we were only pulling out records for a selection of INNS. Contains records for Ensis directus, Ficopomatus enigmaticus, Acartia tonsa and Amphibalanus amphitrite. If any sensitive species or biotope records are present within this dataset, they will have been removed. If you wish to request access to sensitive species records, please contact the metadata contact. The UK Sensitive Species list has been agreed by UK statutory bodies and relevant experts. It can be viewed here https://docs.nbnatlas.org/sensitive-species-list/. Please note sensitive species lists can vary across the UK. Eno, N.C., Clark, R.A., Sanderson, W.G. (eds). 1997.
