| Abstract | The abstract provides a clear and brief statement of the content of the resource. | DAERA benthic video analyses from 35 stations that were recorded by AFBI as part of the Nephrops stock assessment programme in 2018 in Strangford Lough |
| Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | Video files were recorded by AFBI using a non-destructive drop-frame during the under water television camera survey for stock assessment of the commercial species Nephrops norvergicus on board the FPV Queen of Ulster in June 2018 at different locations across Strangford Lough Marine Protected Area (MPA). This survey forms part of an ongoing study of the population dynamics of the Irish Sea Nephrops norvergicus and covers a total of 35 different stations across the Lough. Additional benthic habitat information and species lists were extracted by DAERA in October 2019. The video footage was viewed using freeze-frame; slow motion and standard play speed were used as necessary to enable the identification of as many conspicuous species as possible and determination of broad substrate or habitat type. Biotopes were assigned where possible to UK Marine Nature Conservation Review (MNCR biotope) or sub-biotope categories (level 4, 5 and 6). However in some cases it was only possible to assign level 4 biotope complex due to poor video quality footage or due to the lack of biota and substratum information (i.e. no grab information). |
