Metadata: Community-led Marine Biodiversity Monitoring Project
Abstract:
Scotland coastlines and waters are a special place for marine habitats and wildlife. The Community-led Marine Biodiversity Monitoring Project encourages everyone to get involved in the survey and monitoring of marine life in their local waters. Through this project we are working directly to increase participation in marine biodiversity surveying in Scotland. This includes working to improve survey skills and increase the knowledge base within communities, providing access to suitable equipment, and supporting community-led survey planning, fieldwork and data management. A Community-led Marine Biodiversity Monitoring Handbook was co-created as part of the project. Most communities collecting data follow the Handbook survey methods and use the corresponding recording forms. Community data are validated and verified according to the project data journey and supporting guidance. The Community-led Marine Biodiversity Monitoring Project is a partnership between communities and groups across Scotland, NatureScot and Fauna and Flora International, funded by the William Grant Foundation.

| Internal code | Internally assigned metadata identifier | 3445 |
| Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | Community-led Marine Biodiversity Monitoring Project |
| File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | e7f5199504b71518f5410eee19eef941 |
| Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | CLMProject |
| Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | series |
| Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2018-10-01 |
| End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2023-07-03 |
| Spatial resolution | This describes the spatial resolution of the dataset or the spatial limitations of the service. | inapplicable |
| Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | asNeeded |
