Metadata: Shetland Oil Spill Sensitivity Maps
Abstract:
The Shetland oil spill response maps were originally produced under the auspices of SOTEAG over 10 years ago for inclusion in the Sullom Voe Harbour Oil Spill Plan (SVHOSP) and the Shetland Marine Pollution Contingency Plan. The maps are now updated annually to ensure they are fit for purpose. The purpose of the maps is to identify areas that are sensitive in the event of an oil spill and how best to protect them, the maps refer to Shetland only. The maps can only be used to inform oil spill response and SOTEAG reserves copyright and database rights for 18 datasets. There are an additional 6 datasets that whose ownership lies with third parties - these have been manipulated to be specific to oil spill response.

| Other details | ||
| Internal code | Internally assigned metadata identifier | 3732 |
| Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | Shetland Oil Spill Sensitivity Maps |
| File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | f9135566dfd6559d804ac8a0c4058e98 |
| Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | S19 |
| Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | dataset |
| Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2013-08-15 |
| End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2023-02-15 |
| Vertical extent (min) | A positive or negative decimal number, for example, the shallowest depth recorded if subtidal, or, if intertidal, the lowest point recorded. | 0.0000 |
| Vertical extent (max) | A positive or negative decimal number, for example, the deepest depth recorded if subtidal, or, if intertidal, the highest point recorded. | -1500.0000 |
| Vertical extent reference | This descibes the vertical coordinate reference system as referred to in the EPSG register of geodetic parameters. (epsg-registry.org) | urn:ogc:def:crs:EPSG::5742 |
| Spatial resolution | This describes the spatial resolution of the dataset or the spatial limitations of the service. | 10 |
| Spatial resolution unit | This describes the unit of spatial resolution which for distance must be metres. | http://standards.iso.org/ittf/PubliclyAvailableStandards/ISO_19139_Schemas/resources/uom/gmxUom.xml#m |
| Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | annually |

| Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | This dataset was created with the help of the SOWN (Shetland Oiled Wildlife network). Maps around Shetland were created as part of the oil spill sensitivity maps commissioned by SOTEAG. |

| 20 Limitations on Public Access - Access constraints | otherRestrictions | |
| 20 Limitations on Public Access - Other constraints | This states any limitations on access to the data and uses free text. | SOTEAG have terms and conditions which must be agreed and signed by the data user. Data is not freely available for research or commercial use. |
| 21 Conditions for Access and Use - Use limitation | This states any constraints on use of the data. Multiple conditions can be recorded for different parts of the data resource. If no conditions apply, then `No condtions apply` is recorded. This uses free text. | The maps are for use during an oil spill incident. There are exceptions but this would be on approval of SOTEAG. |
