Metadata: Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment: Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.
Abstract:
A desk-based assessment of the archaeological potential of the coastal zone from Whitby to Skegness. This survey was one of a series of Rapid Coastal Zone Assessments undertaken on behalf of English Heritage around the English coast. The survey was divided into four areas: Bampton to Donna Nook; Donna Nook to Gibraltar Point; Gibraltar Point to Norfolk; and Whitby to Reighton. Site coordinates given here are approximate grid references for Whitby and Skegness - true extents of the study areas are shown in the project report, further details of which are available from the Archaeology Data Service website - http://archaeologydataservice.ac.uk The project has been indexed as in the marine zone to simplify indexing as it spans several parishes.
