Metadata: 2011-2012, SMRU Ltd, Zone 2 Firth of Forth, Marine Mammal Surveys
Abstract:
Seagreen Wind Energy Limited has been awarded the rights to develop a number of offshore wind farms in the Firth of Forth Round 3 Zone by The Crown Estate under the Third Round of the offshore wind licensing arrangements. As part of the development process Seagreen will be carrying out Environmental Impact Assessments for the wind farms. In order to inform these assessments Seagreen have been collecting and processing the required ecological data to characterise the baseline conditions of the area. Reports within this series detail: -Analysis from boat-based surveys for marine mammals and seabirds -Analysis of aerial survey methods to record seabirds and marine mammals -Report on the analyses carried out on the marine mammal data collected during aerial surveys -Analysis of existing satellite telemetry and aerial survey data to describe the abundance and distribution of harbour (or common) and grey seals in the Firths of Forth and Tay -Report on Cetacean baseline characterisation for the Firth of Tay based on existing data -Marine mammal noise impact assessment for seals, bottlenose dolphins and harbour porpoises

| Internal code | Internally assigned metadata identifier | 18223 |
| Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | 2011-2012, SMRU Ltd, Zone 2 Firth of Forth, Marine Mammal Surveys |
| File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | 00bc3055-a726-4b8a-b787-721256799ceb |
| Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | CES-401 |
| Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | series |
| Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2011-10-20 |
| End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2012-06-13 |
| Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | notPlanned |

| Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | The reports were written between October 2011 and June 2012 using the following survey data: - Boat-based surveys for marine mammals and seabirds carred out by ECON Ecology between May 2010 and November 2011 - Aerial surveys to record seabirds and marine mammals, commissioned by The Crown Estate and surveyed during summer 2009 and winter 2009-2010 - Existing (baseline) satellite telemetry and aerial survey data of harbour (or common) and grey seals in the Firths of Forth and Tay - Existing (baseline) data for Cetacean characterisation (bottlenose dolphins) in the Firth of Tay - Marine mammal noise impact assessment modelling for seals, bottlenose dolphins and harbour porpoises |
