Metadata: 2004, EMU, Kentish Flats, Monitoring Programme Fisheries Surveys (Oyster)
Abstract:
As part of the monitoring programme stipulated within the FEPA Licence No. 31780/03/0 for the construction of a 30-turbine offshore wind farm on the Kentish Flats, Thames Estuary, Emu Ltd. was commissioned to undertake a pre-construction Native oyster, Ostrea edulis, sampling exercise for the collection of oyster flesh for chemical analysis. This final report presents the aims of the pre-construction oyster sampling exercise, describes the sampling methodology employed by Emu Ltd. and presents the results of the chemical analyses of oyster flesh at Kentish Flats.

| Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | The sampling of Native oysters, was completed in accordance with the proposed methods described in the Kentish Flats Offshore Wind Farm Specifications for Monitoring Studies document (Emu Ltd., 2004. The aim of the sampling exercise was to obtain sufficient oyster flesh material from three pre-determined transect lines traversing the proposed Kentish Flats Wind Farm cable route and from one area located approximately 2.5km west for chemical analysis. The oyster flesh chemical data is intended to provide a baseline of information for subsequent use during post-construction monitoring studies. |
