Metadata: 2013, Osiris Projects, Zone 1 - Moray Firth, Pre-Construction Geophysical Survey at MORL Met Mast Location
Abstract:
Osiris Projects were commissioned in August 2013 by Drace Infrastructure UK Ltd on behalf of Moray Offshore Renewables Ltd (MORL) to carry out pre-construction geophysical surveys at a specific location off the Scottish cost. The main objectives of the survey were as follows: To establish conditions and identfy anomalies within a 100 m x 100 m area; Develop a local geological model for the site, to depth of 40 m; Undertake a series of surface grab samples. The report details the operational parameters, locations, times and techniques utilised during the surveys, together with the results of the bathymetric and geophysical surveys. Raw datasets and navigation files are provided.

| Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | Data acquisition was undertaken from Osiris Projects' own dedicated survey vessel MV Freja, which was mobilised in Buckie, approximately 2 hours transit time from the survey site. MV Freja was equipped with a Reson 7125 multibeam system, Klein 3900 side scan sonar and Sonardyne 'Scout' USBL system. All equipment was run simultaneously for all survey lines. The vessel was positioned using a Applanix POS MV 320 v4, providing an accuracy of around +/- 0.1 m. Sea conditions were favourable on all survey days; however due to forecasts predicting a prolonged period of servere weather, survey operations were abandoned on 6th September. There were no obstacles affecting line running and the vessel remained on site until the completion of the surveys. The survey site was a 100 m x 100 m box, centred on 510571m E, 6449002m N, and full coverage with good data was achieved with all sensors on all survey lines. |
