Metadata: 2015, Fugro EMU, Race Bank, UXO and Environmental Engineering Survey
Abstract:
Fugro EMU Limited was commissioned by DONG Energy to undertake an unexploded ordnance (UXO) and environmental engineering survey for the Race Bank Offshore Wind Farm (ROW01). The survey area was located in the Wash area off the Norfolk coast, UK. Acquisition of multibeam bathymetry, sidescan sonar and magnetometer data was carried out along the intended export cable routes, inter-array cable routes and on any required wind turbine generator sites. The majority of the offshore survey area was divided between the RV Discovery and the Victor Hensen, with shallow survey operations conducted by the Fugro Seeker. Vessel mobilisations began on the week of the 23 February 2015 in Great Yarmouth, UK, whereupon calibrations and UXO acceptance tests were carried out. Survey operations commenced on the 4 and 5 March 2015 and were completed by the 20 and 16 April 2015 by the RV Discovery and Victor Hensen, respectively. This was followed by a two day demobilisation for each vessel. The inshore extent of survey operations were conducted on board the Fugro Seeker and completed on 27 April 2015.

| Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | This section includes a brief factual description of the methods used to achieve the project objectives. More detailed descriptions of specific survey techniques and procedures are contained within Fugro EMU’s standard procedures, a component of Fugro EMU’s Quality Management System, which complies with the requirements of BS EN ISO 9001:2008. All data were collected in ETRS89 geographic datum and provided in Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) 31 North projection. Depths were reduced to LAT by use of the Vertical Offshore Reference Frame (VORF) model, provided courtesy of the United Kingdom Hydrographic Office. Methodologies for RV Discovery and Victor Hensen were similar with the exception of the multibeam bathymetry and positioning systems, which have been outlined separately. |
