Metadata: 2004, Mott MacDonald Ltd., Cleve Hill Substation Flood Investigation for the London Array Offshore Wind Farm
Abstract:
This Flood Investigation Study has been carried out for a proposed electrical substation at Cleve Hill, which is one kilometre north of the village of Graveney, Kent at OS grid reference TR 050 638. The site is one kilometre south of the Swale, which flows into the Thames Estuary, in an area known as Cleve Marshes. The Flood Investigation Study has carried out the following: - · Discussions with the Environment Agency regarding flood related matters. · Investigations on the current flood return periods and their corresponding levels. · Consideration of other contributing factors including wave and wind fetch. · Exploring the implications of climate change and the effect on flood levels. · Looked into the effect of the floodplain. · Recommendation of a suitable minimum construction level.

| Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | London Array Ltd has requested a connection to the National Grid’s electricity transmission network for a new off-shore wind farm which is to be located in the Thames Estuary off the Kent coastline. The location for the substation has been identified as Cleve Hill which is to the north-east of Favesham, near to the village of Graveney. This area is indicated as being susceptible to flooding from the estuary, therefore coastal flooding is being considered. |
