Metadata: 2002, Fugro, Kentish Flats, Buried UXO Threat Assessment
Abstract:
FUGRO LIMITED have contracted BACTEC International Ltd to carry out an outline unexploded ordnance threat assessment for intrusive geotechnical survey at a sandbank off Whitstable known as Kentish Flats. It has been assessed that there is the potential for unexploded ordnance (UXO) to lie within the Kentish Flats. The three most likely sources of UXO are: a. Air dropped bombs, either dumped or used in action against vessels during WW2. b. Naval vessel ordnance, such as shells and torpedoes. c. Moored or floating sea mines The H&SAW Act and CDM regulations do not specifically require a search for unexploded ordnance. However there is an obligation on those responsible for intrusive works to ensure that a comprehensive threat assessment is undertaken and risk mitigation measures are made with regard to all underground hazards on site.

| Internal code | Internally assigned metadata identifier | 18406 |
| Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | 2002, Fugro, Kentish Flats, Buried UXO Threat Assessment |
| Alternative title | The purpose of alternative title is to record any additional names by which the dataset may be known. | Buried UXO Threat Assessment |
| File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | 1e16d837-f8a7-48b9-a757-87e1e3f77cf1 |
| Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | TCE-823 |
| Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | series |
| Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2002-06-06 |
| End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2002-06-06 |
| Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | notPlanned |

| Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | The aim of this report is to make an assessment of the likelihood of encountering explosive ordnance during the proposed works and thus to determine the potential threat posed by intrusive works. The report will also recommend risk mitigation measures in the event that there is a threat from unexploded ordnance. |
