Abstract:
"This project aimed to provide an overview of current knowledge of the potential impacts of marine aggregate dredging on seabirds. The intention was for the review to facilitate future EIAs and appropriate assessments, in particular with respect to new dredging licence applications and the review of existing consents in existing and proposed Special Protected Areas (SPAs). The review assessed the sensitivity of seabirds and waterbirds to marine aggregate extraction and subsequently to identify species and areas of high ecological vulnerability for birds with regards to dredging."
