Metadata: 2007-2010, RPS Group, Lynn and Inner Dowsing Offshore Wind Farms, Remote Sensing of Pink-Footed Geese Autumn Passage by Bird Detection Radar
Abstract:
During October 2004 Bird Detection Radar (BDR) monitoring was undertaken for ten days covering the Lincs Wind Farm (LWF) area from Skegness, Lincolnshire (Walls et al. 2004). This remote sensing ornithological monitoring identified significant numbers of pink-footed geese skeins on migration offshore to a distance of 10km. As a result of these data, through the provision of FEPA licenses, Natural England and MFA requested that Centrica Renewable Energy Ltd undertake a new ornithological monitoring exercise during the construction phase for the consented offshore wind farm specifically focusing on pink-footed geese migration behaviour. RPS was commissioned to co-ordinate remote sensing (using Bird Detection Radar) ornithological studies for the Lynn and Inner Dowsing Offshore Wind Farms.
