Metadata: 2014, EGS, Lynn and Inner Dowsing, Geophysical Survey
Abstract:
EGS International Ltd (EGSi) were contracted by Centrica Renewable Energy Limited (CREL) to undertake the 2014 post-construction hydrographic and geophysical surveys of the Lincs and L and ID (Lynn and Inner Dowsing) windfarms and export cable routes, which are located in the southern North Sea, approximately 5km off the coast of Lincolnshire near Skegness. Additionally, a benthic survey was required for the Lincs OWF post construction survey. Due to the proximity of the Lincs and L&ID sites and for efficiency, the entire L and ID survey and the majority of the Lincs survey were carried out concurrently onboard the EGS Pioneer. This series only contains the reports and data relating to Lynn and Inner Dowsing (EGS Reference: 5262). The reports and data relevant to Lincs can be found in the Lincs area of the Marine Data Exchange. The objectives of the survey were as follows:- 1. To determine scour pit extent at the 54 turbine monopiles and compare to all bathymetric data collected to date. 2. To identify any exposures/freespans at the J-Tube interface of each of the 54 turbine monopiles. 3. To determine the concrete mattress alignments at each of the 54 monopiles. 4. To identify any exposures along any of the array/export cables. 5. To determine seabed variation for cables identified to have poor burial (sandwave monitoring). Results to be compared with previously collected bathymetric data. 6. To carry out scour survey of the trial pit and nearby array cables close to ID05 to determine any potential migration of the pit towards the cables and to highlight any associated risks. Results to be compared with previously collected bathymetric data. 7. To determine cable burial depth on eight array cables within the Lynn site. The instruments used to achieve these objectives included a multibeam echo sounder, side-scan sonar and sub-bottom profiler. All of the reports and datasets associated with the survey (Lynn and Inner Dowsing only) are provided within this series.
