Metadata: 2013, N-Sea Survey BV, Walney Extension, Geotechnical Investigation 2
Abstract:
The Walney Extension Windfarm is an extension to the existing Walney Offshore Wind Farm which is now in operation. The proposed windfarm site is located north west of the existing Walney Wind Farm, approximately 19km west-southwest from the Isle of Walney in Cumbria. It is 26km southwest from the Millom coast, 35km northwest from the Fleetwood and Blackpool coast and 31km southwest from the Isle of Man. N-Sea Survey B.V. were awarded a contract by DONG Energy Walney Extension (UK) Ltd. to undertake geotechnical sampling investigations at 66 locations along proposed power cable routes within the WOW03 wind farm site, and along the route of the export cable to shore at Middleton Sands near Heysham, Lancashire.

| Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | Prior to testing samples are stored in non-corrodible airtight containers at a temperature conditioned area (± 12°C) without influences of direct sunlight. Selection of a test specimen and its required mass is based on Client’s requirements and/or is depending on the purpose of the test, type of soil and the type of sample. When more than one soil type within a sample is encountered, either a representative specimen is taken of the soil as a whole, or when possible, for each different soil type a separate specimen is taken. Details of the test specimen selection shall be reported with the test results. For bulk samples, the test specimen is selected from the soil after it has been thoroughly mixed. The minimum mass of moist soil selected is based on the minimum test specimen mass in table 1 in paragraph 5.1.4 of ISO/TS 17892-1:2004(E). |
