Metadata: 2010, Partrac, Beatrice, Metocean Survey
Abstract:
Partrac Ltd were contracted to undertake a marine monitoring campaign at locations within the Beatrice Offshore Wind Farm area. The purpose of the monitoring is to inform the developer’s physical processes modelling and engineering design. The survey period required is up to six months in duration. There are three sites for monitoring. The three locations were identified by SSE Renewables for the deployment of metocean equipment within the Beatrice location and required Partrac deploying one Waverider buoy and two seabed-mounted AWACs (Acoustic Wave and Current Profilers). Data from the Waverider buoy are logged to a memory card in each unit and transmitted every hour via the Orbcomm system of low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellites. Waverider data are downloaded at Partrac’s offices, stored and backed up to a remote server every 12 hours. Internally stored data from all instruments are downloaded during every service visit, including any data records which were not transmitted for any reason. ADCP data are logged internally every 10 minutes and are downloaded every month during routine service visits. Deliverables were in the form of reports and raw and processed data.
