| Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | 2014-2016, Ordtek, Walney Extension, Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) Studies |
| Alternative title | The purpose of alternative title is to record any additional names by which the dataset may be known. | Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) Studies |
| File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | 438b11e4-c899-4387-a7a7-8a533ab91057 |
| Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | TCE-2241 |
| Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | series |
| Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2014-08-26 |
| End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2016-04-01 |

| Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | An important part of this DTS has been to undertake a comprehensive review of all the sources and data provided. We have independently evaluated each document and dataset in order to ensure that the results and conclusions in this report are founded on a valid baseline. It is evident from Ordtek’s review of the References that a more comprehensive profiling of the UXO risk is required; particular with regard to the marine environment and conditions within certain parts of the study area. This study will address these shortcomings. Our research for this study has identified UXO sources that have the potential to contaminate the area. We have made an assessment of what we consider to be the most likely UXO hazard items in the Area of Interest (AOI) now and, potentially, across the life of the project, including the most likely types that could be encountered, the probability of encountering them as well as the risk and consequences of detonation. We have analysed the marine and inter-tidal environment, specifically how it relates to potential UXO burial, and divided the study area into discrete areas of similar UXO behaviour for the purposes of risk assessment. For completeness we have considered all activities, past and present that could have contributed to UXO contamination. However, military archives and data sets, particularly older ones, are often very limited in both accuracy and detail. Determining specific and complete evidence of the amount of munitions dumped, laid, fired or dropped, live or inert is very rarely possible. Our risk assessment therefore is based on the data that is available, extrapolated to fill information gaps using similar situations from other sites, and built on ALARP principles using the expertise, judgement and high level of experience of our specialist analysts. |
