Metadata: Marine Traffic Survey, Shipping Assessment and Navigational Risk Assessment undertaken at the site of the Greater Gabbard Offshore Wind Farm
Abstract:
MARICO Marine was commissioned by Greater Gabbard Offshore Winds Limited to conduct a maritime traffic survey on and around the area of the proposed Greater Gabbard Offshore Wind Farm located approximately 20 miles East of Harwich. The survey covered a total period of 24 days, seven days during the summer and seventeen days during the winter months of 2004 and provides a record of all vessel tracks through the area allowing identification of shipping routes. Anatec UK Ltd used the data collected by MARICO Marine to carry out a shipping assessment. The study analyses the traffic survey data collected by MARICO Marine and assesses the risk of ships on the two main routes encountering / colliding with the proposed wind farm structures. SeaRoc UK Ltd used the data collected by MARICO Marine to carry out a Navigational Risk Assessment of the site of the proposed Greater Gabbard offshore wind farm.
