Metadata: 2003, Centre for Marine and Coastal Studies (CMACS), Gwynt-y-Mor Offshore Wind Farm, Beam Trawl Survey
Abstract:
Beam trawl surveys undertaken at the Gwynt y Môr Offshore Wind Farm site by the Centre for Marine and Coastal Studies (CMACS). Surveys were undertaken on 5 days between 3rd and 19th December 2003 at 48 sites. Surveys were carried out four times to investigate seasonal changes in fish and bentic macrofauna species and numbers for the area. Digital photographs were taken of all trawl contents and can be supplied on CD on request.

| Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | A 2m beam trawl with 4mm square cod end mesh was used with a chain matrix between the beam and foot-rope. This was towed behind the boat for 300m at each of the 48 locations. After completion of the tow the contents of the trawl nets were emptied into a fish box and photographed. All fish species and non-colonial organisms were then counted and recorded. The majority of commercial fish species were then measured and any elasmobranch species were also measured and sexed. |
