Metadata: 2010, RPS Energy, Ormonde, Marine Mammal Observer's and PAM Survey
Abstract:
Between 30/04/2010 and 21/07/2010, the jack-up rig Buzzard carried out pile-driving at 30 generator sites and at one substation for the Ormonde Offshore Wind Farm in UKCS block 113/28 in the Irish Sea. The document in this series reports on the implementation of a plan to mitigate potential impacts of pile-driving noise on marine mammals arising from these operations.

| Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | 2010, RPS Energy, Ormonde, Marine Mammal Observer's and PAM Survey |
| Alternative title | The purpose of alternative title is to record any additional names by which the dataset may be known. | Marine Mammal Observer's and PAM Survey |
| File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | 4d57d0c4-4187-4eb7-9290-75b4bfdb38dc |
| Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | TCE-1735 |
| Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | series |
| Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2010-04-30 |
| End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2010-07-21 |
| Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | notPlanned |
| Abstract | The abstract provides a clear and brief statement of the content of the resource. | Between 30/04/2010 and 21/07/2010, the jack-up rig Buzzard carried out pile-driving at 30 generator sites and at one substation for the Ormonde Offshore Wind Farm in UKCS block 113/28 in the Irish Sea. | Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | A general look-out for marine mammals was maintained at all times, such as during transits between Barrow and the wind farm site. On days when pile-driving occurred, mitigation surveys were carried out prior to and during pile-driving. The MMO platform was located on the wheelhouse roof with an eye height of approximately 5.5 m. However, when sea swell caused the boat to roll, observations were carried out from inside the wheelhouse. The sea was scanned with the naked eye and binoculars, and special care was taken to survey a 500 m radius around the Buzzard to ensure, as far as possible, that no marine mammals were visible within this area. Any marine mammal sightings in this critical zone in the 30 minutes prior to the commencement of pile-driving would lead to a delay to piling operations until the animals had left the 500 m safety zone. |
