Metadata: 2013-2014, Reynolds International, Zone 9 - Celtic Array, South East Celtic Array Ground Model
Abstract:
Description: This investigation is a follow up from the development of the Stage 1 Ground Model for the SE Celtic Array Offshore Wind Farm project undertaken in 2013 by Reynolds International Ltd (RIL) with Parsons Brinckerhoff (PB) as sub-consultants. It enabled greater clarification of the geohazards to the RWF project through the greater resolution of the interpretation compared with that of the Stage 1 Ground Model. Centrica Project: Round 3 Irish Sea - Zone 9 Offshore Wind Farm Development- Rhiannon Wind Farm Project Phase: Consenting; Survey Title: Rhiannon Wind Farm Stage 2 Ground Model Surveyor: Reynolds International Limited; with Parsons Brinckerhoff (PB) as sub-consultants,. Survey Date: 2013 Corresponding Centrica Document No: SE-D-EN-078-0117-501038-023 and SE-D-EN-078-0117-501038-023-Att1 Available Datasets and supporting documentation: 1. GIS (.shp, .gdb, .mxd) ; 2.Kingdom Interpretation (Kingdom project files, .txt, .csv); 3. Survey Documentation: Reports, (.pdf)

| Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | The Stage 2 Ground Model development work enabled greater clarification of the geohazards to the RWF project through the greater resolution of the interpretation compared with that of the Stage 1 Ground Model. It was able to establish more definitely that certain rock types can be characterised by their distinctive seismic texture – in particular, the Coal Measures within the Carboniferous Group. Also part of the south-eastern boundary of the Carboniferous Coal Measures was identified as being marked by a prominent fault, which was mapped with a high degree of confidence. Consequently, the bedrock geological map produced during this project is significantly different to that published by the British Geological Survey, by virtue of significantly improved spatial resolution through the availability of many more seismic lines and of the borehole data and the arising geotechnical data and their analysis. Furthermore, complex structures including folding and faulting within the Carboniferous, Permian and Triassic bedrock also result in significant parts lying horizontally. Although the BGS model suggests that these strata should all dip conformably generally eastwards, It is clear that the geological structure across this part of the Irish Sea is more complex than previously thought and requires more research to identify the implications not only for the RWF project but also for the geological development of the Irish Sea area.
