Metadata: 2013-2014, Fugro GEOS Ltd, Dudgeon, Wave and Current Measurements
Abstract:
Acting on behalf of Statoil Petroleum AS and Dudgeon Offshore Wind Limited, Fugro GEOS Ltd has undertaken a 12-month metocean measurement programme at the Dudgeon Field in the southern North Sea to support wind park development. The Dudgeon mooring consisted of an Oceanor Seawatch Midi buoy configured to measure waves and also atmospheric pressure; a Nortek Aquadopp deployed in the hull of the buoy configured to measure current speed and direction through the water column; and a Valeport Midas Water Level Recorder deployed on the seabed to measure water level.

| Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | 2013-2014, Fugro GEOS Ltd, Dudgeon, Wave and Current Measurements |
| Alternative title | The purpose of alternative title is to record any additional names by which the dataset may be known. | Wave and Current Measurements |
| File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | 5e8b9ad0-e0b9-40ca-80d0-866ce0221425 |

| Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | Data were transferred to the Fugro GEOS server for quality control, processing and analysis. Quality control procedures applied during post-processing included, but were not limited to, the following: • Production of quality control plots to inspect the general quality of the data and evaluate the effectiveness of each individual quality control procedure. • Preliminary quality control including the error flagging of records with current speeds beyond extreme limits, in this case speeds less than 0.0 m/s were set to zero. • Application of magnetic declination between 0.8° W and 0.9° W to all directional data. • Application of amended start and end times to remove invalid data recorded during mooring deployment and recovery. • Inspection of data quality by an experienced oceanographer to identify and remove any remaining anomalous values. Analyses were performed using a combination of in-house software routines. Maxima, mean and minima were calculated for all instruments. Further analysis and presentations were undertaken and details can be found in Section 5. The following table details the valid levels of current data presented. |
