Metadata: 2011-2012 Zone 3 Dogger Bank, Cavendish LIDAR Wind Data series
Abstract:
This metadata relate to wind data collected by a LIDAR device on the Cavendish Platform in the North Sea, south of the Dogger Bank Round 3 wind farm zone. LIDAR used is the ZephIR Z300 model. Please see Lidar brochure for further information. The unit ID is ZP307. The LIDAR was installed on the Cavendish platform on the 8th of July 2011. It was validated agaisnt a tall onshore met mast prior to deployment. The independent validation was conducted by GL Garrad Hassan. For further information please see Installation and validation report included within this series. Please note that LIDAR data itself requires no calibration functions to be applied (unlike traditional cup anemometers). The lidar measurement heights are as follows: 301, 201, 156, 111, 105, 99, 84, 69, 54 and 40 m. These heights are given as above mean sea level. The heights in the lidar wind data csv file are above platform height (platform height 29 m amsl) The lidar wind data provided is dated between 8th July 2011 and 21st December 2012 inclusive. The dataset contains the lidar wind data in .csv format and it also contains the ZephIR CSV Files – A User’s Guide for reference. Lidar data are provided as .zph files (which are not readable except using the specialist software). These have been processed to *.csv files using the Waltz Version 4.1.65 software package. The data provided has had no quality control applied to it other than the automatic filtering applied by the lidar processing software. Please refer to the CSV manual. The LIDAR wind data is contained within the CSV file: CavendishLidarZP307WindData20110708to20121221. Also included is a list of missing data.
