Metadata: 2016, Deep BV, Barrow, Export Cable Geophysical Depth of Burial Survey
Abstract:
As part of a transfer of assets between Dong Energy Power UK Ltd (DONG) and TC Barrow OFTO Ltd, a detailed survey of the Barrow wind farm export cable is required. DONG awarded Deep BV, the Netherlands the contract to undertake the marine cable inspection survey for three export cables (Barrow, Walney I and Walney II offshore wind farm export cables). The export cable routes are located in the East Irish Sea with landfalls on the west coast of England. This report describes the geophysical and depth of burial survey conducted along the export cable trajectory of the Barrow Offshore Wind farm export cable. This series contains reports and data for the Barrow export cable only.

| Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | DONG Energy awarded Deep BV with the contract for the execution of the Depth of Burial & Geophysical Survey on the export cables of the Walney 01 + 02 & Barrow Offshore Wind Farms. The export cable routes are located in the East Irish Sea with landfalls on the west coast of England. The primary objectives of the Depth of Burial & Geophysical surveys to be undertaken within the scope of this specification include as a minimum: • Acquire depth of burial (DoB or "z") of the cable over the entire accessible part of the export cables (the survey footprint includes both offshore and near shore areas) using the cable tracking system; • Acquire accurate geographical ("x" and "y") position of cable along with Kilometer Post (KP) positioning along the route; • Verify DoB cable tracker data with sub-bottom profiler data. • Obtain Sub bottom data at locations where no DoB data can be measured when using the DOBstar equipment; • Obtain multibeam data along the export cable routes in a corridor of at least 10 m on each side of cable. For very shallow areas this corridor can be narrowed • Obtain side scan sonar data along the export cable routes • Monitor changes in bathymetry compared to previous surveys • Classify targets on the seabed, including exposed cables, free spans and rock dumping areas. This package contains data for the Barrow export cable only. |
