Metadata: 2013, EGS Ltd, Lynn and Inner Dowsing, Array and Export Cable Route Survey
Abstract:
EGS (International) Ltd was contracted to undertake the 2013 Post-Construction hydrographic and geophysical survey (Multibeam and side scan sonar systems) of the Lynn and Inner Dowsing (L&ID) Wind Farms and export cable routes. Additionally, an environmental survey was required for the 54 No Cable Zones. With respect to the Scope of Work, the total survey operations were carried out in three phases as below: - Phase 1 – Scour, trial pit and cable survey- carried out between 3rd October 2013 and 7th November 2013 - Phase 2 – High-resolution MBES survey of 10 turbine foundations - carried out between 7th and 8th November 2013. - Phase 3 – Environmental survey of No Cable Zones (NCZ) - carried out between 8th and 14th November 2013. EGSi subcontracted Benthic Solutions Limited (BSL) to carry out the environmental survey operations.

| Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | An Applanix POS MV 320 (Version 5) was used as the primary horizontal and vertical positioning for all survey systems and provided position, heading, motion and timing data direct to the QINSy navigation package. A C&C Technologies C-Nav 2050 DGPS was used as the secondary horizontal and vertical positioning system. The offsets between the MBES transducers, POS MV IMU plate, GPS antennae, equipment tow points and the established Common Reference Point (CRP) of the Wessex Explorer were accurately measured (± 0.001m) during a dimensional survey conducted in May 2013. Equipment installation, calibration and verification are described in detail in the mobilisation report, which is presented as Appendix D. The Applanix POS MV 320 is a GNSS aided inertial navigation system, which provides integrated and accurate solutions to position, orientation (roll, pitch, heading), heave, velocities for the onboard survey sensors. The POS MV blends GNSS data with angular rate and acceleration data from an IMU and heading from the GPS Azimuth Measurement Systems (GAMS) to produce a robust and accurate full six degrees-of-freedom position and orientation solution. The system consists of two GNSS antennas, a primary and secondary receiver, an IMU (Inertial Measurement unit) and a PCS (POS Computer system). The GAMS (GNSS Azimuth Measurement system) subsystem uses two GNSS receivers and antennas to determine a GNSS-based heading. |
