Abstract:
This document within this series presents the decommissioning programme for TOW and is being submitted for approval in accordance with the Energy Act 2004 requirements. TOW will be decommissioned according to the lease conditions set out in the Crown Estate lease for this project. The decommissioning programme is informed and supported by the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the TOW Project that was submitted to the Offshore Renewables Consents Unit which was part of the Department of Trade and Industry and to Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council in 2004. This plan is to be reviewed and revised periodically throughout the lifecycle of the project to reflect changing circumstances and regulatory requirements, and to incorporate improvements in understanding of the marine environment and technology.

The closest proposed turbine will be approximately 1.5km to shore (Figure 1). 27 Siemens Wind Power turbines (2.3-93 wind turbine generators (WTGs)) will be arranged in three rows of 9 turbines. Steel monopiles with grouted transition pieces will support the secondary steelworks and appurtenances. The hub height will be 80m, rotor blades will be 93m diameter and the monopile diameter will be 4.6m. The wind farm will have an output of 62.1MW. The turbine spacing is planned to be approximately 600m between rows and 300m between adjacent turbines in each row. The electrical cable system will comprise of: • Two 33kV infield subsea cable circuits • Two 33kV subsea export cables |
