Abstract:
Titan Environmental Surveys Ltd conducted VMADCP transect surveys for Centrica at the Lynn and Inner Dowsing Offshore Wind Farms to collect post-construction hydrological, current, and water quality data for metocean validation and sediment threshold assessment. The methodology involved 13-hour vessel-mounted VMADCP surveys using RDI 600 kHz Workhorse ADCP, Idronaut Ocean Seven 316 CTD profilers, high-precision GPS navigation, water sampling at multiple depths, and deployment of sub tidal moorings, ensuring strict calibration and safety protocols. Data were processed collaboratively and presented as time series, contour, and vector plots, highlighting tidal-driven current predictability, well-mixed water columns, and effective instrument performance. Key conclusions emphasize the value of multi-instrument approaches for accurate environmental monitoring, with recommendations for continued use of these comprehensive methodologies in offshore wind farm assessments.
