Metadata: 2012, EMU and RSK, Zone 6 - Rampion, Fisheries Surveys
Abstract:
Following successful award of exclusive development rights for Zone 6 Rampion, EoN Climate and Renewables UK, Rampion Offshore Wind Limited has commissioned a series of technical investigative environmental studies to inform the EIA and to support the application for a Development Consent Order. A key consideration of the EIA is the potential effects of the proposals on local critical fish habitats including benthic spawning habitat of local and commercially important black bream Spondyliosoma cantharus, as identified in the associated scoping report - RSK Ltd 2010. These fish arrive on the south coast in the early spring and construct nests on the seafloor into which eggs are laid. This inshore migration and demersal spawning behaviour in the vicinity of the current wind farm proposals means that these fish may be potentially exposed to the effects of construction, operation and decommissioning of the wind farm. In recognition of this, this document reviews current understanding of the spatial and temporal distributions of black bream and their local behaviour. Any gaps in current understanding are identified and remedial actions are recommended in terms of additional site investigative work to further inform the current EIA.

| Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | 2012, EMU and RSK, Zone 6 - Rampion, Fisheries Surveys |
| Alternative title | The purpose of alternative title is to record any additional names by which the dataset may be known. | Fisheries Surveys |
| File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | 825a1faf-27d0-44d5-b110-5e43309240a1 |
| Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | TCE-2591 |
| Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | series |
| Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2010-01-01 |
| End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2012-02-29 |
| Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | continual |

| Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | The baseline has been compiled from both desk-based studies and consultation. However, commercial fishing is a diverse and constantly evolving industry, with fishing activity, target species, operating costs, market forces, legislation and regulation frequently changing. It should be noted, however, that this assessment can only be based on the current data available. 18.3.2 A detailed baseline study of commercial fisheries in the Project area was commissioned by E.ON, and is presented as Appendix 18.1. This section of the ES summarises the main findings of that detailed report. The local study area is based on data from one International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES) reporting rectangle. ICES rectangles are blocks of sea of approximately 900nm2, and are a standard method of reporting fisheries landings. The Offshore Project and the export cable corridor fall entirely within ICES statistical rectangle 30E9 (Figure 18.1). |
