Metadata: 2002, EMU Ltd., Kentish Flats Offshore Wind Farm, Hydrographic and Geophysical Survey
Abstract:
Emu Ltd was commissioned by GREP to undertake a hydrographic and geophysical survey of a proposed wind farm site and associated cable route located at Kentish Flats in the Thames Estuary, adjacent to Herne Bay. In addition to this some bathymetric data was also gathered over the adjacent prominent features of Middle Sand and Pan Sand. A small but detailed topographic survey was also required in the vicinity of the proposed cable landfall site.
Data holder:
Vattenfall

| Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | 2002, EMU Ltd., Kentish Flats Offshore Wind Farm, Hydrographic and Geophysical Survey |
| File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | 86c20cb29abc534491ed468550e429d4 |
| Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | 1236 |
| Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | series |
| Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2002-02-15 |
| End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2002-05-15 |
| Spatial resolution | This describes the spatial resolution of the dataset or the spatial limitations of the service. | inapplicable |

| Abstract | The abstract provides a clear and brief statement of the content of the resource. | Emu Ltd was commissioned by GREP to undertake a hydrographic and geophysical survey of a proposed wind farm site and associated cable route located at Kentish Flats in the Thames Estuary, adjacent to Herne Bay. | Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | Digital and analogue data are of a high quality, showing seabed features clearly and correlation between adjacent and perpendicular survey lines. When a mosaic was produced a lot of the detail of the area was lost due to the size of the data set and limitations in plotting. Therefore a seabed classification drawing was produced based on this data. Close inspection of each digital file confirmed that the site area is a flat and featureless area of seabed which has some minor sand ripple activity to the eastern and western extremities near the two sand bank features. |
