Metadata: 2009-2010, Osiris Projects, Galloper Offshore Wind Farm, Geophysical and Benthic Ecology Survey
Abstract:
Osiris Projects were commissioned in July 2009 by Airtricity Developments (UK) Ltd, (Airtricity), (since acquired by Scottish and Southern Energy Renewables - SSER) to undertake an extensive hydrographic, geophysical and benthic environmental survey in the Outer Thames Estuary, as part of the programme to extend the existing Greater Gabbard Offshore Wind Farm (GGOWF). This programme will be known as the Galloper Wind Farm (GWF). The survey was undertaken under Airtricity Contract Reference '09.0558.G' 'Benthic & Geophysical Survey Services for the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)' and was substantially completed during the period 3r d August to 5t h December 2009, at which point the GWF survey was postponed due to prolonged periods of severe weather. The surveys were eventually completed during the period 16t h February to 14t h March 2010.

| Internal code | Internally assigned metadata identifier | 5004 |
| Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | 2009-2010, Osiris Projects, Galloper Offshore Wind Farm, Geophysical and Benthic Ecology Survey |
| File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | 8813106c-2ef6-42b8-b520-5b6fca132602 |
| Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | C9028 |
| Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | series |
| Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2009-08-03 |
| End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2010-03-14 |
| Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | notPlanned |

| Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | In order to fully characterise the MSA, Osiris Projects were required to undertake bathymetric, side scan sonar, sub-bottom profiler, magnetometer and single beam bathymetric data acquisition across all GWF study areas. These were undertaken in order to provide: 1) Full multi-beam bathymetry coverage of the areas; 2) A classification of the seabed sediments for the refinement of a detailed benthic survey; 3) Information on the shallow geology of the study area and to map any variations in thickness and mobile sediment cover; 4) An identification and location of any existing artefacts or obstructions within the study area, i.e. cables, pipelines, wrecks, trawler marks, etc; 5) Information on areas of the survey site, where the seabed has steep sided features; 6) Soil stratigraphic sections - summarising the range of inferred ground conditions for preliminary foundation design; and 7) Maps and charts, including track plots, bathymetric charts, seabed features with sonar and magnetic contacts and isopachyte charts to significant reflectors, including recent sediments. |
