Metadata: 2009, EMU Ltd, Lynn and Inner Dowsing, Hydrographic Monitoring Survey
Abstract:
Emu Ltd conducted a series of hydrographic and geophysical monitoring surveys for Centrica Renewable Energy Limited at the Lynn and Inner Dowsing wind farm sites, primarily from 30 June to 26 July 2009, with additional ecological sampling in September 2009 and comparative surveys dating back to 2007. The purpose was to assess and map seabed habitats, particularly focusing on the extent and nature of biogenic features such as Sabellaria spinulosa reefs and Mytilus edulis (blue mussel) beds, in accordance with ecological and statutory monitoring requirements. Methodologies included swath and multibeam bathymetry, sidescan sonar, high-precision GPS, drop-down video and photographic analysis, sediment grab sampling, and laboratory analysis, with data validated by field verification and processed using advanced geospatial software. Key findings confirmed the presence of Sabellaria reefs (including borderline, low-lying features), patchy and non-reef Sabellaria occurrences, seed and old mussel beds, Ampelisca diadema aggregations, and varied sediment types, with survey results generally consistent with previous years and highlighting the dynamic nature of these habitats. Corresponding Centrica Document Title: Lynn and Inner Dowsing Hydrographic Monitoring Survey Available Datasets and supporting documentation: 1.GIS layers and MXDs; 2.Images(.jpg) ; 3.Videos ; 4. XYZ(.txt); 5. Documents and plots (.pdf)
