Metadata: 2005, RPS, London Array, Report Towards an Appropriate Assessment
Abstract:
The proposed development of the London Array Offshore Windfarm includes the installation of buried marine and terrestrial cables, construction of a substation and access road, and works associated with alterations of the existing National Grid overhead lines. The installation of the marine and terrestrial cables, construction of the access road, and works on the overhead lines would occur within or in close proximity to the Swale Special Protection Area and the Swale Ramsar site. English Nature have advised that an appropriate assessment of the effects of the proposals is required under the Conservation Regulation 1994. The study concluded that there will be no significant impact on the designated Swale Special Protection Area and the Swale Ramsar site from the construction of the London Array offshore wind farm.

| Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | In preparing this document to inform the appropriate assessment it has drawn on extensive information from within the Environmental Statement and other appendices to which this report is appended. This report draws on this information and assesses the effects of the proposed development on the European interests. In setting out this advice RPS have drawn on: 1 The results of two years of research on bird populations in the area of the proposed development as set out in the Environmental Statement; 2 Results of habitat surveys within the area that would be affected by the development; 3 The results of ongoing consultations with English Nature, RSPB and Kent Wildlife Trust. |
