Metadata: 2015, ABPmer, Zone 1 - Moray Firth, Metocean Criteria for Design and Operation Studies
Abstract:
Dataseries containing reports, images and data describing the metocean (meteorological and oceanographical) environment of the Round 3 Moray Firth Zone Moray Firth, Scotland, to inform the design and operation of proposed offshore wind farms in the Eastern Development Area (EDA). This dataseries contains numerous files in a range of formats, arranged in folders by named location and data type. A full list of all files and subfolders is provided in [List of files.xls]. Folder [Reports R2106 and R2107] contains the metocean reports that have been developed on the basis of the associated data; these reports provide detailed information about the provenance of the individual raw and processed data sources. Folder [Figures Showing Named Locations] contains extracted figures from the reports, indicating the geographical position of the named data locations. Folders with names starting [EDA] and the folder [Other Data] provide region or site specific metocean data, including: wind; wave; water levels; currents; and other auxiliary information. Site specific raw data are provided where available. Processed or modified versions of the same data used to inform the reports are also provided. Most folders contain an additional file [ReadMe.txt] providing more detailed information about the local subfolders and/or file contents.

| Other details | ||
| Internal code | Internally assigned metadata identifier | 19210 |
| Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | 2015, ABPmer, Zone 1 - Moray Firth, Metocean Criteria for Design and Operation Studies |
| Alternative title | The purpose of alternative title is to record any additional names by which the dataset may be known. | Metocean Criteria Data for the design and operation of the Moray Firth Offshore Windfarm (Eastern Development Area) |
| File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | a11d655a-ab67-4450-ac33-64ff362c093d |
| Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | CES-366 |
| Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | series |
| Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 1979-01-01 |
| End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2015-01-07 |
| Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | notPlanned |
| Abstract | The abstract provides a clear and brief statement of the content of the resource. | Dataseries containing reports, images and data describing the metocean (meteorological and oceanographical) environment of the Round 3 Moray Firth Zone Moray Firth, Scotland, to inform the design and operation of proposed offshore wind farms in the Eastern Development Area (EDA). | Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | The metocean parameters provided are typically derived from the statistical analysis of observed or synthetic (e.g. modelled) data. It is important to note that there will be a degree of uncertainty associated with each component of the assessment, primarily related to: ? The accuracy of the input data; ? The spatial and temporal resolution of the input data (with respect to the expected variability in the parameter of interest); ? The temporal duration of the data (also with respect to the expected variability in the parameter of interest); ? The ‘representativeness’ of the data used, for all possible locations in the area of interest; and ? The choice of, and limitations of, the chosen data analysis methodology. A consideration of key aspects of uncertainty is provided in each section. Uncertainty was minimised in the course of the present study by applying best practice guidelines to the creation and preparation, selection and application of the data and analysis methods used. Best practice in the present study is provided by the relevant certifying bodies (DNV, 2004, 2007, 2010 and ISO 2007). These are supplemented with additional specialist guidance where appropriate (e.g. in relation to scour and climate change). For further information see ABPmer reports listed in Data Description above. |
