Metadata: 2007, Fugro, Lynn and Inner Dowsing, Side-scan Sonar Debris Clearance Survey
Abstract:
This report contains the operation details and results of the Lynn and Inner Dowsing Windfarm Mono Pile Foundation pre-construction side scan sonar debris clearance survey carried out for MT Højgaard A/S commisioned by Centrica. The fieldwork was undertaken between the 20th March and the 10th May 2007 by Fugro Survey Limited, using the M/V Genesis. Work consisted of a SSS survey to determine any seabed contacts within an area encompassing all 60 proposed monopile locations for the Lynn and Inner Dowsing Windfarm. It was proposed that lines are performed nominally every 40 metres in the mainline orientation withcross lines nominally every 200 metres. Mainlines are also run 20 metres offset from each monopile location with a cross-line again offset by 20 metres from each location. The Service Warranty in Appendix E outlines the limitations of this report.

| Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | 2007, Fugro, Lynn and Inner Dowsing, Side-scan Sonar Debris Clearance Survey |
| Alternative title | The purpose of alternative title is to record any additional names by which the dataset may be known. | Side-scan Sonar Debris Clearance Survey |
| File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | bc01a025-f66e-4236-ab25-4863eda07bca |
| Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | TCE-1067 |
| Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | series |
| Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2007-03-20 |
| End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2007-05-10 |
| Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | notPlanned |

| Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | A GeoAcoustics SS941 transceiver with a GeoAcoustics 159D dual frequency tow fish was utilised for the acquisition of side scan sonar data. The system consists of a towed underwater fish which sends out short high frequency, high intensity, sound waves beamed from either side in a direction perpendicular to the direction of travel. The acoustic beam is narrow in the horizontal plane, yet sufficiently broad in the vertical plane for the transducers to receive echoes from the seabed. These echoes, once detected by the transducers, are sent via the tow cable to the deck unit, which electronically processes the signals and prints them line by line to produce the sonar image on the recorder. For the purposes of this survey, the high frequency 500 kHz transducers were used and the system set to 50 metres per channel, which provided a coverage width of 100 metres centred on each survey line. The data were further enhanced by the use of a CODA processing system with all data recorded digitally to enable further processing, should it be required. The recorded data is annotated at every fix, with fix number and grid co-ordinates. |
