Metadata: 2015, PMSL, Triton Knoll, Report on Guard Vessel duties undertaken by the Jubilee Pride
Abstract:
In May 2015, Triton Knoll Offshore Wind Farm Limited contracted Precision Marine Survey Limited (PMSL) to supply a suitable guard vessel to assist the geophysical and geotechnical investigations within the Triton Knoll Offshore Wind Farm (TKOWF) development envelope. The deployment of a guard vessel during the 2015 site investigations (SI’s) was prompted by significant concern raised by local static gear fishermen active in the TKOWF site. These concerns were first raised by Bridlington based fishermen during the consultation of 2013, and which identified that there was a high risk of large nomadic scalloping vessels from Scotland and the English south coast (Shoreham) entering the TKOWF site. The key issue was that once static gears had been removed to facilitate the SI’s, scallop vessels would enter the site and tow away large quantities of static fishing gear and extensively damage the traditional fishing grounds during the scallop dredging activity. PMSL initiated a review of suitable, local vessels to undertake the guard duties and confirmed on the 1st June 2014, that the Grimsby registered Jubilee Pride, owned and operated by a local company Jubilee Fishing Co Ltd, was both suitable and available.

| Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | Upon arrival to the TKOWF site, on the 09th July 2015, under instruction from Triton Knoll via PMSL, the Jubilee Pride transited to a nominal location within the development survey area to await daylight hours. Once sufficient daylight was attained and prior to the arrival of the Ivero, the Jubilee Pride commenced reconnaissance operations, to establish the level of fishing activity within the survey area. |
