Metadata: 2012, Osiris Projects, Humber Gateway Offshore Wind Farm, UXO Extension Survey
Abstract:
Osiris Projects were commissioned in December 2011 by EON to carry out an extension to the UXO survey at the proposed Humber Gateway windfarm, which was completed in June 2011. The site initially consisted of seventy four 120m x 120m boxes, which was extended to 300m x 300m boxes for this contract, around the proposed turbine and substation locations although this was increased to a total of seventy six, through contract variations. This survey was carried out between 4th January and 27th March 2012. The main objective of the UXO Clearance survey was to allow a risk assessment to be undertaken to standards common in the offshore wind industry, prior to any geotechnical investigations. Data was acquired using a magnetometer, side scan sonar and single beam echo sounder to identify targets ferrous or otherwise with the potential to disrupt drilling operations. This series contains reports and data, however the following datasets/reports are missing: Volume 1 - Operations Report and SSS targets digital listings.

| Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. The magnetometer survey was required to locate any item with a magnetic signature that had a ferrous content of 10kg or more and physical dimensions greater than or equal to a tube 150mm diameter by 300mm long and to a depth of penetration to the sub-seabed of up to 1.5m. The survey was designed to have a separation between magnetometers of 5m and an altitude above seabed of 2m or less. Sub-bottom profiler data were required for jack up penetration and cable installation purposes, to identify vertical/lateral extents of soil units and significant obstructions; the depth range of interest was up to 15m below seabed. Where practicable this data was acquired in conjunction with the magnetometer and side scan sonar data Additionally, bathymetric data was required to measure any alterations in seabed levels when compared to the 2008 survey; this was acquired as weather permitted and at transects of 75m across the whole site and along the export cable route. |
