Metadata: 2007, Osiris Projects, Gunfleet Sands 1 and 2, Additional Geophysical Surveys
Abstract:
On the instructions of Dong Energy, Osiris Projects were commissioned to carry out additional survey and sampling works across the Gunfleet 1 and Gunfleet II offshore wind farm sites in the outer Thames estuary, in order to supplement existing data sets collected during previous surveys carried out during 2001 and 2005. Supplemental bathymetric surveys were carried out in order to provide a comprehensive overview of bed levels within the extents of the consented Gunfleet Sands wind farm development area. This data is to be used for comparison with existing survey data in order to provide up-to date information on sediment movement across the area and also to assist in the detailed design and construction of the wind turbine installations and cable burial.

| Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | 2007, Osiris Projects, Gunfleet Sands 1 and 2, Additional Geophysical Surveys |
| Alternative title | The purpose of alternative title is to record any additional names by which the dataset may be known. | Additional Geophysical Surveys |
| File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | d7ad6fb2-b188-44ec-b276-95a3a90eae96 |
| Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | TCE-552 |
| Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | series |
| Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2007-03-15 |
| End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2007-06-14 |
| Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | notPlanned |

| Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | Geophysical survey lines were run at 20m centres, in a NE – SW orientation, with cross lines perpendicular to these at 250m centres. All lines were run using multi-beam echo sounder, side scan sonar, sub-bottom profiling and magnetic gradiometer techniques. A series of grab samples were taken across the survey area, using a 0.1m² Day Grab, at selected locations, provided by the Client. These were sent to the Centre for Marine and Coastal Studies (CMACS) Limited laboratory in Birkenhead for benthic, contaminant and particle size analyses. The results of these tests lay outside of the remit of this report and are to be produced, under separate cover, by CMACS. Finally, a series of potential unexploded ordnance targets were investigated using a SeaEye ‘Falcon’ ROV. This unit was equipped with a Kongsberg 1071, 675 kHz sonar head and later with a Kongsberg 3000, 2.25 MHz sonar head, in order to provide high definition images of the potential UXO targets. Drop-down video investigations were also undertaken at selected sites, but water visibility was found to be very poor. |
