Metadata: 2010, EGS, Lincs, Baseline Survey Works
Abstract:
EGS (International) Ltd was contracted to undertake a geophysical survey of the LINCS OWF and cable route corridor in order to help determine the nature and distribution of broad scale sediment types and identify seabed features. The results of the geophysical survey were used to identify potential Annex I habitats and also to inform the benthic habitat survey sampling locations. Without the presence of ground truth information preliminary seabed features interpretation was based on the acoustic reflectivity and texture of the side-scan sonar data. Following the results of the benthic habitat survey carried out in September – October 2010 the interpreted seabed features were re-classified to characterise the actual nature of seafloor sediments.

| Internal code | Internally assigned metadata identifier | 19556 |
| Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | 2010, EGS, Lincs, Baseline Survey Works |
| Alternative title | The purpose of alternative title is to record any additional names by which the dataset may be known. | Baseline Survey Works |
| File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | d977ea95-4eb5-4b28-9055-7cabf52d942a |
| Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | TCE-923 |
| Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | series |
| Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2010-07-11 |
| End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2010-10-30 |
| Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | notPlanned |

| Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | All bathymetric data in this report was reduced to Chart Datum Skegness. Figure 4 illustrates the relationships between the vertical datum and the tidal levels. Where elevation data have been measured and recorded relative to Ordnance Datum (Newlyn) an offset to Chart Datum Skegness has been applied, using the British Admiralty published value for Skegness of -3.75m (NP201 ATT Vol1). A seabed mounted tide gauge was used in conjunction with the RTK GPS data collected on both vessels for the tidal reduction. An Aanderaa WLR7 tide gauge was deployed after arrival on site on the 19th July at 328773E, 5884043N. The Aanderaa tide gauge is self-contained water level recorder and was set to store a pressure record every 5 minutes, with a sampling period of 40 seconds each time to minimise the effect of the waves. The tide gauge was recovered on the 1st August for intermediate data retrieval and redeployed the same day at 328798E, 5884057N. The tide gauge was again recovered after the completion of all the survey operations on 4th August and full data recovery as obtained. Benthic samples were acquired using a 0.1m2 Hamon grab. A total of 111 samples were obtained, triplicate samples were acquired at 18 locations (56 samples) and a further 55 single samples were acquired elsewhere within the Lincs survey area. |
