Metadata: 2004 - 2005, EMU,Inner Dowsing - Lynn - Lincs, Fisheries & Epibenthos Surveys
Abstract:
This project includes surveys designed to obtain baseline information regarding diversity and abundance of fish and invertebrates (particularly commercial species) from the vicinity of the proposed Lynn, Inner Dowsing and Lincs offshore wind farm sites. As part of the monitoring programme stipulated within the FEPA Licences for construction of the consented Lynn wind farm (Licence No. 31792/04/2) and Inner Dowsing wind farm (Licence No. 31814/04/2) off the Lincolnshire Coast in the Greater Wash Strategic Area, Emu Ltd. was commissioned by Centrica Renewable Energy Limited (CREL) to undertake surveys of fish and shellfish species of commercial importance and of epibenthic communities. In addition, this report also presents data from the same survey types collected to contribute to the Environmental Baseline component of the Environmental Statement for the proposed Lincs offshore wind farm. Effectively all data collected for the two developments complement the other, as they are in such close proximity. The report presents the aims of the pre-construction/baseline survey, describes the sampling methodology employed and presents raw and analysed results. The Appendix describes the results of the study.

| Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | Sampling arrays were developed in consultation with local fishermen, the Eastern Sea Fisheries Joint Committee (ESFJC), English Nature, the Department of Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs Marine Consents Environment Unit (DEFRA MCEU) and the Centre for Environment, Fisheries & Aquaculture Science (CEFAS). Surveys were performed with an experienced local skipper, who was always consulted during the field work with respect to sampling strategy. Emu Ltd. was represented on each survey by an experienced marine ecologist, with the exception of the longlining where data was recorded directly by the skipper; however, on two of the six surveys an Emu ecologist was onboard to ensure correct & objective recording. |
