Metadata: 2013, Wessex Archaeology, Zone 9 Celtic Array, Export Cable Area Review
Abstract:
This study forms Chapter 18 of the Stage 2 Preliminary Environmental Information (Stage 2 PEI) of the Rhiannon Offshore Wind Farm, which is part of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). The study was carried out by Wessex Archaeology (WA) and it is a Written Scheme of Investigation (WSI) reviewing the geophysical data from the Offshore Export Cable Area (OECA) of Rhiannon Windfarm which was acquired by EGS (International) Ltd. between July and November 2012 as part of a marine geophysical and environmental survey (EGS 2013). Of which the offshore geophysical data was acquired from the EGS Pioneer and the inshore data was acquired from the SV Otarie. The geophysical survey comprised acquisition of sub bottom profiler, multibeam/swathe bathymetry, magnetometer and side scan sonar data. This review assessed and characterised the survey area and also developed conclusions on the presence/absence, extent, period and form of material of archaeological interest, based on the interpretation of the geophysical data.; And also carried out process to identify evidence of palaeolandscapes Please note some reports are still in draft. Additional information (eg. regarding geophysical interpretations) is available within chapter 18 of the Stage 2 Preliminary Impact Assessment ('2014 Zone 9 Celtic Array Stage 2 Preliminary Environmental Information_PEI' series).
