Metadata: 2006, Wessex Archaeology, Lincs Offshore Wind Farm Archaeological Assessment
Abstract:
Wessex Archaeology was commissioned by Centrica Renewable Energy Limited to undertake an archaeological desk-based assessment of the potential impact upon archaeological remains from the proposed Lincs Offshore Wind Farm. Searches for known archaeological material were conducted within a broad Data Search Area. Information was sought from a wide range of local and national bodies, including the Sites and Monuments Record, maintained by Lincolnshire County Council, the National Monuments Record and by the UK Hydrographic Office. This data was then filtered in order to focus only on those sites that lie within the footprint of this scheme (i.e. within an area termed the Lincs Archaeological Study Area); remaining data was used as part of an assessment of archaeological potential. In summary, the archaeological potential of Lincs wind farm comprises: • Five known wrecks and obstructions within the Lincs Archaeological Study Area (of which one is a charted sewerage out-fall); • 76 documented losses some of which may lie within the wind farm or cable route corridors; • Unknown and undocumented wrecks from various periods dating back to at least the Iron Age; • Stray finds of ship-borne debris from various periods • The potential for the presence of submerged prehistoric land-surfaces, possibly containing archaeological data and site. This series contains the Archaeological Assessment Technical Report, and associated GIS datasets, including magnetometer and side scan sonar anomalies, wreck, obstruction and aircraft locations, trawl scar areas and areas of disturbed seabed.

| Internal code | Internally assigned metadata identifier | 5508 |
| Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | 2006, Wessex Archaeology, Lincs Offshore Wind Farm Archaeological Assessment |
| File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | dbedcf0a84af5e8392f42079cfc70dc0 |
| Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | 604 |
| Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | series |
| Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2006 |
| End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2006 |
| Spatial resolution | This describes the spatial resolution of the dataset or the spatial limitations of the service. | inapplicable |
| Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | notPlanned |
