Metadata: 2005, Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management, London Array, Impact Assessment Methodology
Abstract:
The Environmental Assessment methodology follows the requirements set out in the draft ecological impact assessment methodology of the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (IEEM 2002). The first step is to identify the ecological value of the area under consideration, from Internationally important statutory areas to non-statutory areas of local importance. The second step is then to assess the magnitude of the potential impact on the area. Impact magnitude can range from major negative, through neutral, to major positive depending on whether they are permanent/temporary, short-term/long-term, etc. This depends on the ecological significance of the area such that a major-negative impact magnitude on a site of International importance will have an impact significance of ‘critical negative’.

| Other details | ||
| Internal code | Internally assigned metadata identifier | 19601 |
| Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | 2005, Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management, London Array, Impact Assessment Methodology |
| Alternative title | The purpose of alternative title is to record any additional names by which the dataset may be known. | Impact Assessment Methodology |
| File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | e1880e5c-1afc-4860-89e8-3c9c9c6ad9eb |
| Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | TCE-985 |
| Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | series |
| Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2005-03-15 |
| End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2005-03-15 |
| Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | notPlanned |

| Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | In order to assess the significance of potential impacts it is necessary to identify the ecological resources potentially at risk. Table 4 summarises the ecological resources in terms of ornithological interest, the reason for the interest and categorises the level of value. |
