Metadata: 2009, Inner Sound, Sound of Stroma IXSurvey, Geophysical Survey
Abstract:
IXSurvey Limited were contracted to undertake a geophysical site survey in the Sound of Stroma in the Pentland Firth. The offshore operations for this project were performed from the survey vessel M.V iXPlorer between 8th–16th September 2009. The vessel was fitted with a RESON 8125 Multibeam echosounder and a hull mounted Geoacoustics 5430A pinger. A Klein 3000 side scan sonar interfaced with a Marine Magnetics magnetometer was also utilised. Positioning was provided by Trimble SBS850 and Trimble R8 Rover RTK DGPS reference systems in combination with an Octans 3000 gyro compass and a GAPS USBL system. The objective of the surveys was to provide geophysical data to determine geological conditions and hazards affecting the planning, design and installation of an offshore marine current energy project in Stroma Sound.

| Internal code | Internally assigned metadata identifier | 5578 |
| Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | 2009, Inner Sound, Sound of Stroma IXSurvey, Geophysical Survey |
| File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | e618e9a2-d995-4640-b9c4-3142ec4e1d94 |
| Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | JN3475 |
| Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | series |
| Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2009-09-08 |
| End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2009-09-16 |
| Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | notPlanned |
